Feedback on Dragon Boat Restaurant. (Hospitality and Gastronomy) located in Auckland (Auckland)
Overview
So, you know how sometimes you’re just craving some good Chinese food? That was me the other day, and I stumbled upon this spot called Dragon Boat Restaurant over on Elliott Street in Auckland Central.
Now, the first thing to mention? It’s open late! That’s a big win for the night owls. Plus, the vibe is pretty chilled out. Staff members are friendly and attentive, which is always a bonus when you’re diving into those delicious dumplings.
Speaking of dumplings, I ordered a few and honestly, they were decent but not life-changing. Some folks rave about the pork buns, claiming they’re the best around. But there’s this chatter about prices being on the steeper side. It might make you pause for just a sec—$44 for half a duck? Ouch, right?
Then there’s the whole “yum cha” experience. It’s not your typical bustling scene with carts rolling around. You gotta order from a menu, which might feel a bit…off for the die-hard dim sum lovers.
Now, don’t get me started on the ethics side of their menu. Shark fin? Live lobster tank? It’s kinda a mixed bag here. On one hand, great food, on the other, ethical questions.
In case you’re thinking of checking it out, they do have takeout and it’s good for groups. Just be ready for a casual dining experience, but do keep in mind that some dishes might not hit the right flavor notes.
All in all, Dragon Boat has its ups and downs, but it’s worth a visit—if only to try those infamous pork buns and see what the fuss is about!
