Feedback on Shads Buffet & Function Centre. (Hospitality and Gastronomy) located in Hāwera (Taranaki)
Overview
If you’re ever in Hawera, you might want to check out Shads Buffet & Function Centre on Nelson Street. I recently took my family there, and let’s just say it was quite the experience.
So first off, Simon and Kate seem like the heart and soul of the place. They welcome you with open arms. And, boy, do they hustle! We went with a big group, and the food was served hot and fast—definitely scored some points in the service department. They even dressed the tables for our little winter gathering—talk about above and beyond!
Now, let’s discuss the food. The buffet had a decent range. I mean, you could go from brisket to onion rings in a single swoop, and for $42.50, you kinda expect a smidgen more, right? But hey, the desserts?! They had these lovely bits that ranged from cakes to that classic soft-serve machine. Just an FYI, if you got allergies, they labeled things pretty clearly. Thumbs up for that!
Atmosphere? It was pretty chill. You’ve got booths for a close-knit dinner, long tables for large gatherings, and even small cozy spots for intimate chats. Plus, it’s family-friendly—my kiddo was grinning from ear to ear!
Just a heads-up on the drinks; if you’re ordering cocktails, be prepared to shell out a bit more. They don’t skimp on the size, which is a bonus! Free parking was nice too—always a win when you’re carting kids around.
In a nutshell, Shads is one of those places you can’t help but want to give a shot. With a mix of good food and friendly vibes, it’s worth the visit—and I’d say for anyone with a few skeptical opinions, maybe it’s time to give it another go. You never know, it might surprise you!
