If you’re ever in Whakatāne and craving some Asian flavors, check out Bangkok Thai Chinese Takeaway on James Street. I swung by recently and, wow, the selection of Chinese food platters is impressive, especially for groups.
Sure, the place isn’t exactly lit up like a Broadway show, but hey, it’s all about the food, right? With a score of 3.3, it has its ups and downs. Some might say the Tom Yum soup could use a makeover, but others are all about the yum factor.
They’re open from around lunchtime until the evening, except Sundays, which is when I guess they take a break. It’s more of a chill, casual vibe—perfect for grabbing takeout after a long day. Don’t even get me started on the free street parking!
Oh, and they take credit cards, which is clutch. Overall, giving it a shot might be worth your time!
